Bruce Nelson managed pre-construction and construction services for the four-story, 120,000 sq.ft. pediatric surgery center. The new facility added seven operating room suites, a pediatric imaging center, and 48 new neonatal intensive care beds bringing the total number to 96, among the largest NICU in the state of California. The scope of work also included 24 general pediatric beds with private rooms, a central plant with cooling towers and chillers as well as site and infrastructure upgrades.
Green building elements include stormwater management, construction waste management, recycled content, local/regional materials and the use of FSC-certified wood. This facility added many features to this leading Orange County hospital, including a 36 bay state-of-the-art Emergency Department with Digital Radiography capabilities. The Basement Level includes a Cardiac Catheterization department with 4 Catheterization Labs and 16 Preparation/Recovery Patient Bays.
