Hoag Hospital | Chiller Replacement

NelsonPHS replaced two operating 350-ton chilled water units at Hoag Hospital. This included the associated electrical gear, pumps, interconnected piping and upgrading the Building Management System.

The biggest challenge faced during this project was performing the work with minimal disruption to an active hospital. The project was scheduled during the coolest time of the year to minimize demand on the equipment. Utility and system interruptions were planned in advance and to occur at night or early in the morning. Fortunately, Mother Nature cooperated with us.

As on-site Construction Management, we proposed and delivered the project at risk as an integrated design/build with a modified open book Guaranteed Maximum Price type contract. The NPHS project team worked well together and was focused on delivering the project ahead of schedule and under budget.
